Alasdair is an accomplished consort singer, and sings regularly with the Luminescence Chamber Singers. He has a long history in choral and consort singing, and has worked with some of Australia's foremost musicians and ensembles including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, The Song Company, Genesis Baroque, Apeiron Baroque, the Choir of Trinity College, Melbourne, and the Australian Chamber Choir. Accomplished in a wide variety of styles, Alasdair has sung everything from Scandinavian pop covers to Bel Canto arias on concert stages, churches and cathedrals around Australia and the world.
Drawing on his rich experience as a recitalist and his ongoing passion for art song, Alasdair brings a deeply informed and collaborative approach to teaching. Having himself received mentorship from some of Australia’s most esteemed artists and educators, including Roland Peelman, Yvonne Kenny AM, Deborah Cheetham AO, Sharolyn Kimmorley AM, Christopher Watson, Guy Noble, and Warwick Stengårds, he is well-equipped to guide emerging singers in both technical refinement and interpretive insight.
Passionate about cultivating the next generation of performers, his teaching is grounded in the belief that vocal flexibility is about much more than simply singing different genres with the same technique, but diving headfirst into the musical and cultural history, and finding colours and techniques that work for each student to best communicate their thoughts.
A versatile choral and small ensemble conductor, Alasdair began his musical journey as a chorister at St Andrew's Brighton, where he was later (after he had finished school!) appointed Associate Director of Music. After several years at St John's Camberwell, he was appointed Director of Music at All Saints Ainslie in 2025. He know also appears regularly as Associate Director of Music at Christ Church South Yarra (Melbourne), where he leads a professional quartet in regular evensong services.
Keen to spread the joys of music-making as far as possible, Alasdair also leads the Canberra Hospital Foundation choir, and works closely with the Luminescence Children's Choir.
